CalTASH Legislative & Policy Commitee
Cal-TASH supports practices that promote our resolution that all people, regardless of their label or perceived level of disability, should have the supports they need to direct the course of their own lives, and to live and participate successfully in inclusive schools and communities. We believe that Special Education is a service, and not a place. We advocate for integrated housing options for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities, including setting aside a percentage of all new buildings for low-income adults with disabilities, and the expansion of housing vouchers for those with low income residing in areas where vouchers are no longer available.
CalTASH Legislative & Policy Committee works to raise these issues with policymakers in California. We do this through visits to legislators and letters, calls to action, in addition to our partnership with other organizations in the Lanterman Coalition.
